SpinLaunch is a private aerospace company in Silicon Valley in the United States. They invented a wonderful rocket launch method. They plan to use the power of a centrifuge to launch the rocket, which can save a lot of expensive fuel.
The idea of using a centrifuge to launch a rocket appeared as early as the 19th century, but it was discovered that huge centrifugal force would destroy the rocket, and this weird idea didn't end quickly.
SpinLaunch confidently said that its rocket is not only reliable, but also low in price.
According to information provided by foreign media, SpinLaunch’s centrifuge will first accelerate the rocket to 8000km/h. When the centrifuge rotates at the fastest speed, the rocket will experience a centrifugal force equivalent to 10,000 times the force of gravity.
"No rocket could survive this, nor the electronics inside the rocket" (No rocket could survive this, nor the electronics inside the rocket), said Dan Erwin, an aerospace engineer from the University of Livonia, Western General.
Similarly, when the rocket rotates in the centrifuge, the load inside the rocket will also receive the same amount of force. It is estimated that the only load of SpinLaunch is a solid object such as a weight.
It is said that SpinLaunch’s first rocket will be launched at the end of this year, so let’s wait and see.
